My Poor Baby

Logan gets hives. He gets hives when he rubs food all over his face. He rubs food all over his face when we feed him and he is tired. Unfortunately with a busy life meals don't always happen when they should.

The hives itch. He rubs because it itches which makes them worse which then only makes it itch more. His eye (always the right eye) swells up until it swells shut. Benadryl is given and he goes to bed. He is always much improved by morning but sometime it lingers for a day or two.

He has been getting these hives since my birthday in late January when he smeared hummus all over his face. Every time he ate hummus the same thing happened. So the doc determined he must be allergic to something in the hummus so we stopped giving it to him. Then it happened when he innocently ate pureed carrots. I figured there was no way he could be allergic to carrots. It then happened randomly whenever he ate something that he could rub and smear all over his face. Last week during one of many visits to the doc, we came to the conclusion that he just has overly sensitive skin and breaks out in hives when he rubs food everywhere.

We did learn a while back when it was happening so we made a point to not feed him when he was tired. So much for tonight. Naps were messed up and dinner was much later than expected. Mental note made for next time. It breaks my heart to see him like this.

To make me feel better I threw in a picture of Tyler at the end. We took another stab at cutting his hair. This time Morgan did it and was able to finish the cut. Now that we know we can do it, no more $20 haircuts for us!!
